We believe all homes should have access to the abundant renewable energy on the grid.
Electricity is typically cheapest and greenest at the times when you need it the least. Our products will cleverly help you use energy when it’s greener and cheaper. You’ll reduce your use of fossil fuels and save money, and you won’t have to cook dinner at three o’clock in the morning.
On 15 days in December 2024, low-carbon energy made up over 80% of grid power at certain times, offering extremely cheap, clean electricity. However, at peak times, expensive fossil fuels still dominated, causing large price swings and high bills.

We're going to make a smart plug that stays plugged in all the time, but only turns on when electricity is green and cheap.
Then we're going to make a home battery that charges up when electricity is green and cheap. And then your house uses it when it needs it.
Who
Ashley and Rob met at a Green IoT Meetup, and were both looking for ways to use their skills and experience to have a positive impact on the climate crisis. They shared a frustration that it’s difficult to make a difference to your energy consumption when you live in a flat. After spending time researching solutions, and visiting Germany to understand the emerging Balkonkraftwerk movement, it became clear that there was a wide gap in the market for products designed specifically with this audience in mind.
In March 2025 we secured our first funding from Bethnal Green Ventures in London.

Startup engineering leader, with experience creating innovative solar battery systems which brought clean energy to 500,000+ homes in rural East Africa. Previously creating the largest platform for managing Utility EV Smart Charging programs as VP of Engineering and CTO at ev.energy.
Rob Hallifax
Co-founder & CPO
Product leader with experience building both digital and physical products. Previous work has involved Internet of Things systems, scientific instrumentation, and design platforms. Rob has founded two companies to commercialise consumer products after multiple crowdfunding campaigns. He’s also a double world record holder.
